Gift Guide: Lisa Can Craft

Yes, this is a shameless plug for my Etsy shop.

What You Will Find: Unique handmade magnets with super strength.
Perfect for: Anyone who loves a little splash of color or personality on their fridge or file cabinet. Makes a great small gift for anyone from an acquaintance to a BFF.

I first saw magnets like these at a Renegade Craft Fair a long time ago and thought it would be a great idea to personalize them with pictures of my niece and give as a gift to my sister and brother-in-law. That worked out pretty well, so I then started scouring magazines and catalogs for patterns and images that I could use to make some more, and gave them as a small holiday gift for my co-workers.

I love being able to give out these magnets as a small gift, and they are always well-received. They’re not difficult to make and I find it relaxing to work on them. I discover a lot and feel super creative when I eyeball pictures and patterns in order to see what can make a pretty magnet. No two of my magnets are the same!

I just listed new items in the shop, and I hope you will check them out. As a reward for making it through this post, you can get 30% off your purchase through 12/31 using code ICANTDRIVE30.

Countdown to 2008: Wear it – and Play it, Too!

Okay, that title isn’t very clever. But I’m referring to my accordion. I don’t remember the last time I touched it and I kind of miss it. So – another goal – try to get back into my music.

Along the same “artsy” line, I should probably knit something next year. I have an idea brewing in my head…let’s see about making it happen, huh?

Christmas Cookie Monster

Christmas sucks. Especially when you’re pre-menstrual. I’ve taken to sneaking Christmas cookies into my room and eating them in bed. That is sooo wrong. I’m embarrassed that I’m even blogging about it. Somehow, I don’t think Jesus wanted us to stuff cookies in our faces to celebrate his birthday. I’ll just think about that next time I see a cookie. But, I don’t think it’ll stop me from eating it.

Christmas 2008 is going to be all about veggie trays!!

Renegade Craft Fair This Weekend

The Renegade Holiday Fair takes place this weekend, 12/8-12/9 at the Pulaski Field House. Mr. Pickles won’t be there, but there will be a ton of other vendors with their handmade and unique items for sale. Don’t know yet if I’ll make it, but if you’re in the Chicago area, check it out. Don’t forget to bring cash and your Christmas shopping list — it’s highly likely that you’ll be able to find a last minute gift for that person who has everything.
