Thoughts on Battlestar Galactica’s finale….
- I loved it, but there were little things that disappointed me like – wouldn’t Adama want to spend the rest of his life with his son, especially after you-know-who dies?
- Again, no callbacks to the prophesies, unless you count the opera house thing, which was just…actually, I kind of liked that it turned out that way
- Funny that Baltar ends up being the hero. But what happens in the CIC after they call a truce is just kind of…convenient. I mean, all the bad guys are taken care of (Cavil does a nice job of eliminating himself; can’t believe he gave up so quickly) and the whole resurrection thing never happens because Tyrol pounces on Tory who, let’s face it, totally had it coming
- The Caprica flashbacks were kind of…meaningless. It’s almost like they needed filler for the finale
- LOVED all the action at the Cylon colony. Poor Galactica! I know it’s CGI but I think I was most sad seeing the poor girl practically fall to pieces after that last jump
- My wish of seeing Starbuck and Apollo back in their vipers never came true, but we did get Jamie Bamber in Galactica gear, which was good enough for me!
- The thing with Starbuck….okay, Ronald D. Moore. It’s okay to leave some things to interpretation, such as poetry or abstract paintings. Cult SciFi television is not one of these things. Give us answers, dammit!! Along those same lines, why bring up Daniel if we’re never gonna find out who he was (though it’s probably safe to assume who he was)?
- I was a little peeved with the ending, and I would have been okay without that final bit on Hera. But overall, I suppose it’s appropriate that the series kind of ends where it started (with Baltar and Head Six). Sort of. Hmmm.
- Ron Moore’s cameo at the end was kind of weird. I mean…he was like IN YOUR FACE.
- I miss Dualla. Shame what happened with her. And the thought of poor Lee climbing mountains all by himself makes me sad. They should have had him hook up with the medic (especially since she just happens to be his wife in real life).
- Another shoutout to the red stripe centurions!! And holla to Doc Cottle, who is just so damn cute – it was great to see him laying in the grass with the rest of the dudes, scoping out the tribesmen.
If I take the show too seriously, particularly the part about WHEN they landed on you-know-where, I can probably end up having an out-of-body experience. It’s a complete mindfuck, actually. I have lots of other thoughts on the finale and the show, but sheesh…do you seriously want me to type it all out?
Can’t wait for “The Plan” to air! It should be interesting. And if you haven’t watched Battlestar Galactica yet, what the frak are you waiting for???
