Battlestar Galactica Finale

Isn't Tricia Helfer pretty?

Thoughts on Battlestar Galactica’s finale….

  • I loved it, but there were little things that disappointed me like – wouldn’t Adama want to spend the rest of his life with his son, especially after you-know-who dies?
  • Again, no callbacks to the prophesies, unless you count the opera house thing, which was just…actually, I kind of liked that it turned out that way
  • Funny that Baltar ends up being the hero. But what happens in the CIC after they call a truce is just kind of…convenient. I mean, all the bad guys are taken care of (Cavil does a nice job of eliminating himself; can’t believe he gave up so quickly) and the whole resurrection thing never happens because Tyrol pounces on Tory who, let’s face it, totally had it coming
  • The Caprica flashbacks were kind of…meaningless. It’s almost like they needed filler for the finale
  • LOVED all the action at the Cylon colony. Poor Galactica! I know it’s CGI but I think I was most sad seeing the poor girl practically fall to pieces after that last jump
  • My wish of seeing Starbuck and Apollo back in their vipers never came true, but we did get Jamie Bamber in Galactica gear, which was good enough for me!
  • The thing with Starbuck….okay, Ronald D. Moore. It’s okay to leave some things to interpretation, such as poetry or abstract paintings. Cult SciFi television is not one of these things. Give us answers, dammit!! Along those same lines, why bring up Daniel if we’re never gonna find out who he was (though it’s probably safe to assume who he was)?
  • I was a little peeved with the ending, and I would have been okay without that final bit on Hera. But overall, I suppose it’s appropriate that the series kind of ends where it started (with Baltar and Head Six). Sort of. Hmmm.
  • Ron Moore’s cameo at the end was kind of weird. I mean…he was like IN YOUR FACE.
  • I miss Dualla. Shame what happened with her. And the thought of poor Lee climbing mountains all by himself makes me sad. They should have had him hook up with the medic (especially since she just happens to be his wife in real life).
  • Another shoutout to the red stripe centurions!! And holla to Doc Cottle, who is just so damn cute – it was great to see him laying in the grass with the rest of the dudes, scoping out the tribesmen.

If I take the show too seriously, particularly the part about WHEN they landed on you-know-where, I can probably end up having an out-of-body experience. It’s a complete mindfuck, actually. I have lots of other thoughts on the finale and the show, but sheesh…do you seriously want me to type it all out?

Can’t wait for “The Plan” to air! It should be interesting. And if you haven’t watched Battlestar Galactica yet, what the frak are you waiting for???

It's Over…

…I’m so overwhelmed right now that the only comment I have is – how damn cute are the “red shirt” centurions? I can’t wait to re-watch the series finale of Battlestar Galactica!!!!

Random BSG Thought

bamber

I can’t decide whether I’m grossed out or turned on by Jamie Bamber’s long hair…in this outfit – not hot. In a flightsuit, however….oh, how I hope to gods that Apollo will fly one more time before the series ends!

Hey, don’t accuse me of being a dork. It’s a big night for Battlestar fans!!

On another note, hail SciFi for giving EJO props on scifi.com!

Stuff I Already Miss About Battlestar Galactica

The series finale of Battlestar Galactica is three days away, and I can think of several things that I already miss:

  • Viper & Cylon Raider battles (dogfights?)…Starbuck and Apollo flying & fighting was such a huge part of the beginning of the series. This last half of the season, all we get is Hot Dog and other random dudes just chilling in in their vipers. Here’s hoping we get one hell of a battle on Friday!
  • Apollo being Apollo and not this Lee Adama wearing a suit BS. Okay, I get that the character developed and it does make logical sense, but I miss Jamie Bamber in pilot gear/fight mode.
  • Baltar. Yeah, yeah, he’s still there…but it’s not the same.
  • Normal Anders. Anders as a hybrid is just plain creepy. Michael Trucco is such a trooper.
  • Old Chief. When did Tyrol become such a wishy washy dope? Seriously. I mean, I guess he always was kind of a dope, especially where Boomer is concerned, but it’s like he got a personality transplant after discovering what he really is.
  • The religious stuff. The prophesies and the gods played a huge role in the beginning of the series. Yeah, it was tiresome, but it’s a bit disappointing when something that was so important kind of gets tossed aside later.
  • Old Roslin. It’s sad to see her in this condition.
  • The sexiness! Has anyone had their shirt off this season? And kissing during gunfights doesn’t count as sexy. Not really, anyway.

Um…that’s all. Can’t wait for the finale! Everyone seems to be gearing up for a disappointment…I feel like with all the mythology and drama, it will be impossible to satisfy everyone fully and to tie up every loose end. The nice part is that there is at least one SciFi (or is it SyFy) movie in the works. In addition, Ronald D. Moore seems so accessible and is obviously very invested in the franchise that I think we will continue to get answers, clarifications, and other great info out of him long after the series ends.

Other random bits…

  • Tory is annoying
  • Boomer is a douche – can’t wait to see what happens to her
  • We BETTER get a clear explanation of what the deal is with Starbuck
  • As much as I wanted Gaeta to die a horrible death, I kind of miss him

My Week: my silly iPod, Flight of the Conchords, freezing weather, BSG returns

This week, Chicago temps fell to temperatures that we last experienced a decade ago. My poor car whined every time I started it up. I wore two layers of clothes and a parka. I can’t wait for temps to go up to the 20s…I’ll walk outside in my bikini.

Okay, I love these guys. I have Flight of the Conchords – The Complete First Season and I am having a blast discovering this show.

I gotta love it when I have my iPod on shuffle and Hanson comes on. I don’t even know how Hanson got on my iPod!

Battlestar Galactica returned tonight. My reaction is: WTF?! How awesome was Edward James Olmos???

Other TV highlights from this week include 24 (of course), Privileged (dang!), Damages (just because), The Office (LOL), 30 Rock…

In other news, I haven’t been to The Condo in over a week. I should probably visit The Condo this weekend.

This Week's TV

It’s been a long time, but I feel like talking about my TV shows right now. So, let’s start with last Friday’s Battlestar Galactica, which starred Grace Park as a lot of Eights and Mary McDonnell as bald Roslin. Anders is such a sissy; he should have just put his hands in the computer thingy. Looking forward to tonight’s episode, when we get to see cutie-pie, half-Cylon, half-human, half-Asian, half-White dude baby!! Oh, and can I just say that casting Esai Morales as Grandpop Adama on Caprica is pure devilish GENIUS.

Next up is Greek, which is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites. Every one of the characters is likable in some respect (except for Evan Chambers, who went directly to my sh*t list after Monday’s episode). And kudos to any show that can make Michael Copon look like he can actually act, even with a ridiculous hairstyle. Really, I like Copon, if only because he’s half-Filipino. Anyway, I’m glad they’re giving Rusty a new love interest. Oh – I almost forgot – mad props for getting Max Greenfield on the show, cuz he’s one of my faves. (What language am I speaking?)

BSG Ep. 4.3 – The Ties That Bind

Last night’s episode of Battlestar Galactica was a success – if you think that depressing me is a success. I appreciate that Ronald D. Moore likes to fuck with our minds, but I really didn’t need that last shot of you know who after he/she was you know what by you know who. I’ve also gotta say that, although there was a clear attempt to make the conclusion of last night’s episode a sentimental and significant moment in the series, I still feel like I was cheapened somehow: too many blurry and warpy images that didn’t very much pay off in the end. In other words, I don’t think justice was really done to the situation, and I know that I may be alone in thinking that.

I love Chief Tyrol!

How can Galactica be effective with Helo, Gaeta, Athena, and Anders off the ship?

Laura Roslin is a complete badass! But, why? It’s like she’s being a beeyotch simply because.

I hate Tory.

I hate the Cavels. And – ew – what the heck is up with Boomer? But, hey…I hear Dean Stockwell was quite the hottie back in the day.

I’m excited about next week’s episode…it’s about time Tigh went insane and Caprica Six is just the lady to drive him to madness.

Gods help me, but I actually missed Baltar last night.

One last thing…RIP [name of our fallen friend]! I’m saddened by your demise. I guess you’re not the final Cylon!

Yay! But, Bad Timing for Me…

The official word on the fourth and final season of Battlestar Galactica is that two half hour specials will air on March 28 (one of them full of interviews with celebrities on why they love the show) with the season premier set to air on April 4. Of course, I’ll be on vacation and so will miss the first two episodes. Who can I bribe into taping the episodes for me?? Oh my God, I can’t wait for this show to start!! I’m so excited.
