All Caught Up With FRINGE

Here’s what’s great about FRINGE:

  • It’s intelligent.
  • It’s funny.
  • Joshua Jackson is charming as ever.
  • JJ Abrams is showing great care with this show, as opposed to with Felicity and Alias, which were GREAT shows, but ended kind of lousily. JJ even said about Alias that when watching a later episode, he wasn’t sure who some of the characters were or what was going on. Don’t quote me on that. Listen, I tried to find the actual quote but I’ve wasted like 20 minutes already. So, I think I’m right, but I could totally be making this up. My point is, I don’t think the quality of the show will ever deteriorate, and I believe that all the big questions it poses will be answered without haste. And I think this is due in large part to the involvement of Alex Kurtz and Roberto Orci.
  • The show carefully balances the scientific with the emotional. It’s executed really well.
  • The episodes run longer than the normal 42 minutes and however many seconds.
  • The effects are great.
  • You don’t need to run to your nearest university library in order to understand it.
  • The cast is great: Anna Torv, Lance Reddick, Kirk Acevedo and the cuteness that is Jasika Nicole.

And what do I love most about FRINGE? The fantastic John Noble, of course! Someone needs to create a YouTube mashup of all his great lines. He is a complete GENIUS. The character of Walter Bishop is totally GENIUS. He’s my favorite!!!

I am Watching FRINGE

Okay, so the main attraction for me is Joshua Jackson. I was totally excited when I heard that he was going to be on TV again. While some parts of tonight’s episode left a bad taste in my mouth (death by melting skin, anyone?), I’m not writing off this show. I’d like to thank J.J. Abrams for telling the press that he didn’t think the pilot was a great representation of what the show is really about. I am a bit upset that Mark Valley’s character turned out to be evil and is now dead, but that’s okay. Fox is re-airing the pilot episode on Sunday, so check it out if you missed tonight’s airing.
